Everything You Need to Know About Water Facials: Benefits, Costs, and More

6 April 2025

When it comes to in-office facials, nothing beats water facials right now.

This treatment has become a phenomenon in recent years because it targets multiple skin concerns (dryness, aging, and hyperpigmentation) in as little as a half-hour or 60-minute session, leaving you with a more radiant look

when you leave the doctor’s office A radiant complexion.

Sounds tempting, right?

Read on to learn everything you need to know about your water facial before your appointment. What is a water glossy surface?

In a nutshell: A water facial is an in-office procedure that thoroughly cleanses and moisturizes the skin. The long version:

“It’s a machine-assisted procedure that unclogs pores and treats specific skin concerns with targeted serums,” says board-certified dermatologist Brendan Camp, MD .

“In one session, Hydrafacials cleanse, exfoliate, extract and moisturize skin for a more revitalized and youthful appearance.”

Aqua facials typically consist of three parts: cleansing, extraction and infusion. Anil Shah, plastic surgeon and owner of Aesthetic Skin in Chicago.

The first step involves cleansing and exfoliating the skin with a gentle scrub to loosen dead skin cells and unclog pores, then the second uses a vacuum-like device to painlessly remove dirt and debris from the skin.

At the end of the treatment, the doctor should infuse the skin with an antioxidant-rich or peptide-rich serum for extra protection and hydration.

Also worth noting: Most U.S. cities offer spa services, but all spas must be licensed to operate. When booking a treatment, make sure the person you are seeing is a certified water facial therapist.

Post-treatment results should be a brighter, more radiant complexion with reduced pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

What are the benefits of a hydro-light facial?

“While anti-aging, acne, and other concerns like hyperpigmentation may take longer to show a response, effects like brighter, clearer skin are immediate,” says Dr.

To maintain results, patients are advised to continue receiving water facials every four to six weeks. What are the side effects of water facial treatment?

Water facials are generally safe for all skin types, but reactions are not uncommon. “Some tightness, redness, and tenderness may occur after treatment, but with proper home care, these side effects usually subside within a

day or two,” says Dr. Shah

To avoid adverse effects from treatment, or to make sure you make money, Dr. Camp recommends avoiding makeup and direct sunlight for at least 48 hours after your facial. “Some people recommend stopping potentially irritating

products like retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid for two to three days before or after treatment,” he adds. How much does a water light facial treatment cost? As with many beauty treatments, the price of a water

facial depends on a variety of factors, with location being an important factor. However, Dr. Aqua facials can range from $150 to $350, Shah says.
