How to Create a Homemade Natural Deodorant with Simple Ingredients

Natural Deodorant Recipe

At Procoal, we’ve made our opinions on natural deodorant very clear. We love it so much and want everyone to use it! On top of that, we also want to show you how to make your own natural deodorant. So, if that sounds like something you’d like to try? Check out our super easy and effective DIY natural deodorant recipe!

Natural Deodorant Ingredients

90g Arrowroot Powder/Corn Starch

30g Baking Powder

4-6 Tablespoons Melted Coconut Oil

Method

Combine the baking soda and arrowroot powder or corn starch.

Add four tablespoons of melted coconut oil and mix with the dry ingredients using a fork. Continue adding coconut oil until the mixture reaches the desired consistency. We recommend that it should look more like a thick balm as it’s easier to apply and store.

Finally, pour the mixture into a jar with a tight-fitting lid.

And there you have it: your own homemade natural deodorant.

Additional Ingredients

This is the basic recipe and can easily be changed or added to based on your personal preferences. If you want your deodorant to be scented, you can add 2-3 drops of essential oil to the melted coconut oil and then mix it with the baking soda and cornstarch mixture. Lavender is an excellent essential oil to try, while rosemary gives off a wonderful, more masculine scent. Essential oils are a great natural way to add scent to a product without affecting the formula or causing skin irritation from nasty hidden chemicals.

If you find that your armpits are very sensitive and dry, you can also add 3 tablespoons of shea butter to the recipe. Shea butter is a wonderful nourishing product and a great addition to a recipe for extra moisture.

Additional Information

The reason this recipe calls for baking soda is that it is very effective at absorbing all types of moisture, including sweat. It helps keep your underarms dry without clogging your pores. It also works great at killing bacteria on the skin that are often responsible for body odor. The cornstarch/arrowroot also absorbs moisture to prevent unsightly sweat stains under your underarms!

Lastly, the coconut oil not only makes the DIY product easier to use, but it also moisturizes the skin under your arms. Armpits can get quite irritated throughout the day, and soothing coconut oil really helps combat any razor burn or irritation.

Making your own natural deodorant is a great idea and makes a great gift. However, the cost of the ingredients and glass jar can be a little high, and the product may not last long before it goes bad and becomes unusable.

Other than that, the recipe for Procoals Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant is very similar to the one shown above. It also contains a lot of other natural beneficial ingredients, including activated charcoal, which can remove all the toxins from your underarms.

So feel free to use that recipe and make your own, or you can also check out our recipe since we’ve done all the hard work for you and give it a try!
