Maskne: Masking Acne and How to Prevent It

We all know the proper habit of wearing a mask. First, make sure you have several masks on hand so you don’t reuse one. To avoid rashes, use a mask made of soft fabric that is neither too tight nor too loose.

Cleanse, condition and moisturize face before and after wearing a mask. But did you know that wearing a mask can still cause acne, skin irritation, and other skin problems?

Putting on a mask can really cause acne!

There are several reasons why wearing a mask for an extended period of time can affect the covered parts of our face.

Masks that are too tight can cause rashes on the bridge of the nose and behind the ears from friction.

While masks are not permitted to be removed in public or at social gatherings, you can remove them in isolation or at home to allow your skin to breathe freely.

Rough cloths can mistakenly rub against our skin. The material of the mask should be soft, preferably 100% cotton.

Make sure to wash your mask with a mild cleanser, as even the wrong cleanser can cause skin irritation.

Weather can also make the condition worse. Excessive dryness or humidity can adversely affect the skin under the comforter.

Maskne is therapeutic and here’s how it works! Many reported acne, irritation and rashes on their faces as a result of wearing masks so often.

You can avoid this by washing or sanitizing your mask every time you wear it. Make sure to cleanse your face before and after applying the mask, and don’t forget to apply a mild moisturizer to keep your skin from drying out.

After removing the mask and cleansing your face, apply calamine lotion to your rash.

Another great way to nourish and moisturize your skin is with a Niacinamide Facial Serum. It moisturizes the skin and treats acne without scarring. You can get Clinicikally’s Ultimate NIA Facial Serum delivered to your door for

Helpful Skin Care Tips While Wearing a Mask

Wash your face regularly and apply moisturizer frequently. If you have dry skin, use a rich face cream.

Use a light sunscreen or sunscreen, preferably mineral-based. Be aware that sunscreens contain certain chemicals that may compromise the integrity of any rubber or elastic on the mask

Avoid wearing heavy makeup (such as foundation) under the mask. This may cause a rash.

If you wear a cloth mask, be sure to wash it daily according to guidelines to minimize the growth of bacteria that can cause acne.
