Why do face masks give you spots

Why do face masks cause breakouts?

It’s been a long week and you’ve put on your favorite pajamas and plopped on the couch for a Netflix marathon. Of course, you can use a face mask to up the pampering factor – pure bliss. What if you suddenly wake up with a breakout in the morning? You thought the face mask would give you clear skin without blemishes! How could this happen? Well, let’s explain what might be happening and why you might be getting breakouts from a face mask.

What am I doing that might be causing breakouts?

There are a number of reasons why you might get breakouts when wearing a face mask. It all depends on what you do and how you use the mask. For example, if you don’t remove your makeup and don’t apply the mask to a clean, clear face, bacteria, dirt, and makeup can get trapped on your skin and clog your pores, which can lead to blackheads and pimples. Always remove your makeup before using a face mask. For best results, thoroughly remove your makeup, cleanse and tone your skin, then apply the face mask and apply moisturizer after removing your makeup.

Does face mask cause breakouts?

If you use a mask containing clay or charcoal, the properties of these ingredients are known for their detoxifying effects. This means that they pull toxins and bacteria out of your skin while penetrating deep into it, which can also cause blemishes to appear. This is completely normal and means that the mask is working well. These impurities will soon disappear and your skin will be completely clean. Because the mask also absorbs excess sebum (the oil that causes acne), you will find that the acne will not reappear.

What to do if the acne is itchy?

If your acne feels uncomfortable or itchy, it may mean that the mask you are using is too harsh for your skin. It is best to stop using the mask and consult your family doctor or dermatologist. There are different mask formulas so you can find the one that works best for your skin. For more sensitive skin types, cream masks are not only nourishing for the skin, but also gentle enough.

Hormonal Imbalance

As mentioned before, it is completely normal to have some acne after using a mask. The cause of the acne does not necessarily have anything to do with the mask. If you often get acne, it may just be bad timing, or hormonal imbalance may be the answer to the acne.

Finding blemishes is never a good thing, especially when you’ve spent time using face masks hoping they’ll give you the desired results, like radiant, healthy skin. The most important thing to remember is that you’re working hard on your skin and you’ll see the benefits in the long run.

If you find that breakouts are a big problem for you, there are many different options you can try. Eating a healthy, balanced, low-sugar diet and drinking plenty of water will do wonders for your skin.
